Why the Helsinki Summit Ticked Me Off

Posted by Troy on 16th July 2018 in Uncategorized

Or more appropriately, why the coverage of it ticked me off.  What it proved, beyond a shadow of the doubt, is that Trump can’t win with these people.

Just days before meeting with Putin, Rod Rosenstein comes out with a list of indictments against Russians for “meddling in our election.”  Immediately, there are calls for Trump to cancel the meeting, or at the very least, not to meet one on one.  If he cancelled the trip, it would be “proof” that Trump had colluded with Putin.  If he did not meet one on one, it signals weakness to Putin and it also would surely lead to leaks unless that person was beyond reproach–however, anyone that trustworthy for Trump would have been utterly dismissed by the people who demand others be present.  Finally, if he met with Putin one on one, then people would say that Trump was committing treason behind closed doors.  Trump can’t win.

Putin says, “I wanted Trump to win,” and the Left goes nuts.  Ah!  Proof!  Of course, we are supposed to believe that Putin is being honest when he says he wanted Trump to win, but he is lying when he says that Russia didn’t interfere in the election.  Putin’s trustworthiness, as with everything, is determined in relation to if it helps or hurts Trump.  With the media on his side, there’s no way Putin can lose.  No matter what he does or says, the US media will do his dirty work by sowing division in our country.  Meanwhile, Trump can’t win.

People ask him, “Mr. Trump!  What are you going to do about the Crimea?”  Where were these helpful souls in 2014?  You know which President should have done something?  Obama.  You know what multinational organization should have done something?  NATO.  Do you know what either of those did?  NOTHING.  Maybe if they started mobilizing troops and planes to the Ukraine and Crimea in 2014, Putin would have abandoned his plans, but now he occupies the Crimea.  The Crimea is gone.  The only thing that will get it back at this point is a hot war.  The moment came, and Obama chickened out.  NATO/Europe, in their typical fashion, appeased instead of fought.  It is Germany invading Czechoslovakia all over again.  So, if Trump demands it back, Putin’s going to say “No.”  Then what?  I suppose there are two options, Trump goes home looking weak as hell, or he mobilizes the military, gets us into a hot war, and basically starts WWIII (or at the very least allows his critics to call him a warmonger).  Trump can’t win.

Gowdy says in his shrill, annoying voice (I used to be 90/10 with this guy and now I’m down to 60/40 with the stupid crap that comes outta his mouth…) “The first thing Trump needs to do when he gets over there is demand Russia hand over these 12 nationals.”  Okay, to what end?  Putin will say, “No.”  Then what?  Trump looks weak.  This is the same thing that happened when Jeb demanded Trump apologize to his wife.  You never demand something if there is any doubt about getting it.  There’s actually no doubt about this… PUTIN WILL NOT TURN OVER THESE PEOPLE.  So Trump looks weak and gets nothing in return other than elevating Putin and giving his critics more ammo to ridicule him with.  Trump can’t win.

Then everyone says that he should have confronted Putin about the meddling.  Well, that’s great.  The more Trump shouts about Russian meddling, the more he damages his own presidency by basically saying “I was not duly elected!”  To which he was, but perception is everything.  It’s also silly when every country is meddling in pretty much every election.  Obama tried like hell to get Netanyahu defeated in Israel, and that’s our ally!  I mean, I expect enemies to sabotage and backstab, but when friends do it, that’s despicable.  It’s also laughable since Hillary injected herself into the Russian election trying to get Putin defeated.  Or as Chris McDaniel put it, “The democrat stance is that 12 Russians swung the election but that 12 million illegals have no effect whatsoever.”  But again!  To what end?  “You meddled in our election.”  “No, we didn’t.”  I mean, does that just devolve into a “liar liar pants on fire/I know you are but what am I” playground-style fight?  Does Putin get to play the high-road and declare that he had Trump over in good faith and Trump insulted him to his face?   Do we go to war over this or something?  Trump can’t win.

And that’s what ticks me off about the entire thing.  Nothing he could have done would have sufficed.  Everything was a trap one way or another.  Based on this, his Helsinki trip was basically perfect just because it wasn’t an unmitigated disaster.  More and more, the media has become the boy that cried “Hitler!”  75% of the country has stopped listening to them entirely.  The other 25% take their daily dose day after day and get more wound-up and rabid.  This cannot end well.

Donald Trump Jr’s Collusion

Posted by Troy on 12th July 2017 in Current Events, Political

Let’s dissect what happened:

Last June (before the entire Russian explosion thing), an acquaintance contacts Donald Jr and tells him that he has a contact with information from the Kremlin which will incriminate Hillary Clinton.  Donald Jr. meets with her, attempting to get this information.

I wonder… If Hillary could have gotten pictures of Trump having sex with children from Putin, would she?  You bet she would.  Oh, she might give some “I hated getting the information this way… but I had to do it… I had to protect my country from this monster.”  And you can bet the media and the rest would have herald her for her courage.

These are the same people who praise Snowden for turning over intelligence to the community at large.  This is the same party that pardoned Manning for at best espionage, at worst treason.  Speaking of, what is treason?  Giving comfort and aid to our enemies.  What could that mean?  Could it mean doing an apology tour?  Obama.  Could it be giving Russia access to 25% of North America’s uranium after getting $500,000 from Russian entities from a speech and getting millions of donations  afterwards to their private foundation? Clinton.  How about structuring a nuclear arms deal that lets Russia expand their arsenal while we have to shrink ours?  Obama/Clinton.  What about paying a ransom and lifting sanctions to Iran when we know that they will use the money to fund terrorism and attack our interest?  Obama.  What about giving arms to known terrorists so that they can fight other people in the region?  Obama.  What about going to Cuba and legitimatizing a tyrannical government?  Obama.  What about releasing terrorist after terrorist from Gitmo?  Obama.  What about setting up an arms running deal to incriminate our own people so that you can push an anti-gun agenda on the premise that we are supplying arms that are killing Mexicans?  Obama.  What about demanding pro-Western rulers step down to be replaced by anti-American extremists?  Obama.  What about going to the Ukraine and using the Ukrainian government to do opposition research on Trump?  Clinton.  We could go on an on about this.

My point is this: either apply the standards uniformly, or not at all.

Specifically, until such time that it is show that there is a quid pro quo, I am most unconcerned.  I think the Left’s argument goes something like this: If Russia prefers that candidate, that candidate should step down–which is bizarre.  Frankly, I do not see that Russia truly preferred Trump.  If anything, I think Trump has been way stronger against Russia than Obama was in the last 8 years.  Have we forgotten that Obama gave Russia everything they wanted with the START treaty?  Did we forget that Russia took the Crimea under Obama?  That they did that laughable reset?  Do you remember when Obama drew a red line and then broke out in a cold sweat when Assad used chemical weapons anyway?  How Obama praised Russia and Russia’s fine work in promoting peace by brokering a solution to the chemical weapons…which rather conveniently let Obama backtrack on this red line that he had no intent in enforcing.

Don’t make me laugh.

If Hillary would have won, she would would stocked the Supreme Court with a 5-4 Liberal bias.  The Second Amendment would have died.  There is no limit to the evil that would have been plagued upon us.  You are going to be hard pressed to show me any amount of evil that Trump may do that will match this.

Long Live the Constitution.

Obama and Putin… “It’s…complicated.”

Posted by Troy on 29th December 2016 in Current Events, Political

So Obama hit Russia with some non-effective, but insulting, sanctions.  In particular, closing a couple of Russian facilities and expelling 35 Russian diplomats is really a slap in the face, diplomatically.  Let’s review…

Obama comes into office thinking that he could improve relations with Russia.  He tells the Russians they can build more nukes while we will not and removes the plans for expanding missile defense in eastern Europe, leaving our allies saying… “What the hell, America?”  He sends Hillary over there with her “Reset” button.  What does that get us?

Russia invades the Crimea.  Russia props up Assad.  Russia conspires with China to undermine the dollar as the world currency.  Russia buzzes our military ships and airplanes, flirting with our airspace.

Does Obama have any real issues so far?  Nope.  Not with the espionage, or anything else.

In 2015, he discovers that Russia is trying to influence our elections.  He sternly tells Vlady:  “Hey…Knock it off.”

Woooo…Vlad was scared!  Big, tough Obama said… “Knock it off.”  OMG… if Vlad disobeys there will be… well, there will be pretty much no consequences because Obama is the weakest, most feckless leader we’ve had in a long while.  Obama said he didn’t want to do anything because he was sure Clinton was going to win anyway…but she didn’t.

Little backstory, Hillary supported the Vlad protesters back when he was running for President–trying to influence THEIR election.  So, this could very well be payback.  Or not.  The RNC had hack attacks too, the same as Podesta…they just weren’t stupid enough to fall for it.  So Russia could have simply wanted to embarrass anyone they could.  Assuming that they are behind it at all, which I’m iffy on, honestly.

But Obama was willing to let it go…as long as Hillary won, because he didn’t want to appear partisan.  I hate to say this, but there’s no way that this man could NOT seem partisan.  At every turn, he has demonized Republicans.  When he won, he basically told them that he won the election and could do whatever he damn well pleased and refused to work with Republicans, preferring to try to demonize and shame them in the media instead.  When he couldn’t get his way, he just started signing executive orders.  His behavior is pretty much the cause of the Democrats losing the Senate, which cost Obama the chance to appoint a 5th, Liberal judge to the Supreme Court.  Now, Trump comes in with majorities in the House and Senate.  Trump will get to appoint the next Justice.  All of those sweet little executive orders are a pen swipe away from oblivion.  Obama is the architect of his own demise.  He has managed to reduce his own reign to a footnote:  “*Obama – the first President of African descent.”  That’s all he will be now.  And he did it to himself with his own arrogance.

So he’s doing what any spoiled child would do when he doesn’t get his way.  He is throwing a temper-tantrum.  He is chastising Israel.  He is destroying records of Muslim refugees which were being monitored.  And he’s hitting up Russia.  Why?  To make sure that Trump has as much going wrong as possible.  Obama will not have anyone outshine him.  He will NOT have Trump come in and just win win win.  Obama said he would take it as a personal insult if people didn’t vote in Hillary…and he meant it.

But the real thing is he is setting a trap for Trump.  If Trump reverses this decision, the media and Obama will say that it’s proof that Trump is a Russian pawn.  If Trump doesn’t, Russian relations will continue to deteriorate, leading to possible war or other strife.

I always knew that Obama’s ego knew no bounds, and the last few months are living proof.  He is willing to subject millions of people to war, death, and hardships just because his pride is hurt.

I look forward to Trump flipping the script and making himself look good and Obama look like the immature amateur he always was.

A Comprehensive Analysis of the Electoral College Overturning the Election

Posted by Troy on 15th December 2016 in Current Events, Political

It is amazing how so many Democrats have started espousing the wisdom of the Constitution after spending my entire life explaining to me what an outdated document it is!  So the basic premise is that the Republican electors should choose someone other than Donald Trump due to Hamilton’s writings in Federalist Paper #68 in which he said that the Electoral College is meant to safeguard against a demagogue taking power.  Naturally, Democrats view Donald Trump as an unqualified demagogue while Barak Obama was the smartest man to ever take office.  But that’s neither here nor there.

First, let’s look at History.  When was the Constitution written?  It was after the Articles of Confederation failed.  What was a major issue of this failure?  All states got the same vote (one vote a piece).  As such, Virginia (the richest, most populous state) had the same say as Georgia (the smallest state, population-wise).  This really annoyed the Virginians.  Regardless, the Articles of Confederation failed, and the Electoral College (along with the bicameral nature of the legislature) was a way to strike a balance between state sovereignty and population.  Now, originally, any number of people could run for President (they still can, in theory, but not in reality).  The top two became President and Vice President, accordingly.  This was changed with the Twelfth Amendment after the President and Vice-President of different parties were chosen, causing much chaos.  But the original intent was this:  In a race between six candidates, it was possible a demagogue could troll the bottom 20% of the population and win, whereas the other, qualified candidates only got 16% each.

Now, with the two party system, this is no longer the case.  You would have to argue that 46% of the population is stupid and deserve to have their vote overturned.  Now, this truly is the Left’s belief.  They really do look down at those living in rural areas.  Ergo, the will of that huge red swath between New York and California mean little to them.  As Marx said, the city folk need to save the country folk from their own stupidity (look it up if you don’t believe me).  And this is what Hollywood believes.  Oh, those poor, backwards, red-neck, inbreeds.  They don’t know how stupid they are.  They need a benevolent dictator to do what’s in their best self-interest.  They’re too dumb to know what’s good for them.  [Google C.S. Lewis and Robber Barons for a GREAT quote of the tyranny that's for our own good...it never ends.]

So, what if the Left got its way?

Well, if the election was given to Hillary: Civil War.  No joke.  That’s what we’re talking about.  At least a couple of million dead.

If the Democrats all voted for a Establishment Republican and enough Republicans joined forces to elect a Jeb Bush (etc): The death of the Republican Party.  It should also kill the Democrat party, but it won’t.  They’ll forgive them because “They saved us from Trump.”

But even if Civil War was averted, it will be the end of American elections.  Why bother voting?  The Electoral College will choose who is president regardless of our wishes.  It is the appearance of a representative democracy, only.  It is a farce.  They will allow your vote as long as it pleases the powers that be.  Once that genie is released, it will never be put back in the bottle.

Even if you believe that Russia wanted Trump to win…seriously…do you think Putin didn’t want Barack to win?  The wide-eyed idealist with zero experience and the spine reminiscent of an earthworm over a war-hardened veteran like McCain or a savvy business tycoon that understood the threat Russia posed?  Ha!  Putin ran circles around Barak, and Putin loved that Barack won both times.  Hillary posed little problem for Putin, so I doubt he worried too much about her gaining power anyway.  But even if you think Russia views Trump as the better option…which is the best option for us: Four years of Trump as President or civil war?  Because that’s your choice, peeps.  Choose wisely.

Long Live the Constitution!

The Russians are Coming!!!!!

Posted by Troy on 13th December 2016 in Current Events, Political

If you went back and told Second Grade me that I would feel the media was too rough on the Russians when I was 38, I’d think you’re crazy…but here we are.

The White House admits that there is no link between the Russian government and the e-mail hacks.  But that’s not good enough for Democrats, whose belief system seems to be “Whatever it takes to get rid of Trump or de-legitimize him.”

1 – Hamilton did speak about the Electoral College being used to prevent a disqualified person from taking office.  I disagree with this interpretation (even though it appears in the Federalist Papers, which I love).  Hamilton was a bit imperial.  There is talk of two political beliefs in America:  The Jeffersons who believe in the People and their collective wisdom and the Hamiltons who believe that the People need to be ruled and protected from themselves.  I think this Federalist Paper was Hamilton being Hamilton.  The Electoral College was actually created as a mechanism by which the smaller states would agree to join the union.  While it still gives sway to the larger states, it ensures that the smaller states will still have a say in the affairs of the country.  I fail to see any situation where by the Electoral College overturning an election would not end in civil war.  Even if the people vote wrong, it is far better to just put up with their error for four years rather than have a small body overturn their decision.  That and to overturn this election would take nearly 40 electors turning.  That would just be incredible, and a clear repudiation of the will of the people.

2 – Did ya notice how none of the Democrats seemed to care when Mexico tried to influence our elections?  Do you remember that?  What about the UN?  What about other foreign countries that weighed in on our election?  When all these countries and outside parties were talking trash about Trump?  Well, that was all honky dory when it was benefiting Hillary.  Every country, friend or foe, tries to influence our elections.  Likewise, we try to influence their elections.  This administration tried to get Netanyahu ousted in his election  We tried to defeat an ally in favor of a group that actually hates America.  And no one said anything.  Oh well, right?  Remember when we overthrew the democratically elected government of Iran?  Good times!

3 – What did the hacks tell us?  That the DNC plotted to screw Bernie over?  We already knew that.  That Hillary has zero energy?  We already knew that.  That she sold influence?  We already knew that.  That she has utter disdain for the average American?  We already knew that.  So tell me…how did these hacks influence the election?  By confirming what we already suspected of Hillary?

4 – It is troubling that maybe Russia preferred Trump.  Of course, it could be that Russia wanted to weaken Hillary’s presidency (assuming she would win as everyone else did).  Maybe it was personal.  Maybe Putin feared reprisals for making Hillary look like a dithering old fool with her “Reset” button.  Maybe Putin just hates Hillary.  Maybe the Russian government has nothing to do with it?  Hackers are kind of Chaotic Neutral.  Who knows what their motivation is.  However, I will judge Trump’s presidency by his actions.  If he sells America out in favor for Russia, that’s called Treason.  He will be impeached and probably hanged, and he will deserve it.  I doubt all of this.

5 – I don’t believe 1% of Trump supporters would change their votes based on Russia being behind the DNC hacks.  As such, he still would have won.

Democrats need to get their adult pants on and learn how to deal.  California and New York need to get over themselves.  They are populous.  They are big.  But they do not reflect the values and beliefs of this nation.  Roughly 3,000 of 3,200 counties voted for Trump.  If Democrats really though about it, this should convince them in having a small Federal government.  As one person put it: “I can’t feel sorry for people who want an all-powerful government and can’t conceive that one day someone they don’t like might be in power.”

Trump and Putin

Posted by Troy on 8th September 2016 in Current Events, Political

Trump is coming under fire for complimenting Putin.  As Matt Lauer pointed out all that Putin has done in undermining US interest, grabbing the Crimea, etc.  To which I have to say: doesn’t this prove Trump’s point?  Putin has gotten all this without Obama being able to counter him effectively in any way.  Currently, Russia has a strong leader and we have a weak one.  Anyone being honest has to agree with this.  Can you name one of our traditional enemies which are currently in retreat from the world stage?  They are all advancing and working against our interest.  That has been the history of the last 8 years.

Russia to ban imports of foodstuff

Posted by Troy on 8th August 2014 in Current Events

That’s their big ace in the hole then?  Oh, don’t get me wrong.  I’m from Georgia.  I know that cuts on imports will hurt our economy (in the short term).  But here is how this plays out:

In the short-term, the Russians have less food and have to pay more for it.  Americans have more food and have to pay less for it.

Since there is now a food shortage in Russia, other producers of food will start to ship more food there to make higher profits.

Shipping food to Russia means they are not shipping food to other places.  These other places will need food.  Guess where they are going to go?  America.  Why?  Because they have a surplus and the food will be cheaper.

Way to go Russia in proving, yet again, that you’re still basically a third rate power in this world.  If that is your big, economic ace, you suck.  The only product you have of any worth is oil.  You have nothing to fall back on.  This is the case of a bluffer playing a game.  It’s just that all the world powers are too chickenshit to call him on it, so he will probably win.  Oh well.  Sorry Ukraine.
