US Withholds $33 Million because of Doctor’s Treatment

Posted by Troy on 28th May 2012 in Current Events, Political

Pakistan has been utterly embarrassed by the fact that Osama bin Laden was hiding next door to an elite military college in their own backyard.  They have also been embarrassed by the fact that America managed to fly in helicopters next to this military college and assassinate Osama bin Laden, and we did all of this without asking them.  Of course, we didn’t ask them because Pakistan hates us and are not really our allies.  We give them money, and they use that money to confound our efforts in the area.  To repay us for embarrassing them on the world’s stage, they have sentenced Shakil Afridi, the man that led us to Osama bin Laden, to 33 years in prison.  We have responded by saying that we are going to withhold $33 million in aid from Pakistan.

First of all, this is so weak.  Why is everything this guy does so damn weak!  We’re cutting $33 million out of a $250 million dollar package.  Whoop de doo.  How about this: “Deliver Shakil Afridi to the American embassy, or you will never see another dime of American aid.”  Or how about his, “Deliver him immediately, or we are dumping you as an ally and allying ourselves to your greatest enemy, India.”  Hell, that would make more sense on a lot of different levels.  Indians think very highly of America.  India is an up and coming economic power.  India has a huge population and is a counter balance to China.  What does Pakistan have going for it?  Why the hell are we friends with this country that has hidden our worse enemy and aided the Taliban in killing Americans?  What is wrong with us?  If we want to play a game with it, we can say “You will lose a million dollars in aid for every hour it takes you to deliver Shakil Afridi to our embassy.  If your balance reaches zero, our alliance is at an end, and we will ally ourselves with India.”  That would add a bit of Hollywood drama to the whole thing and make things more entertaining for the folks at home.

His man helped us.  If we do not do something to save him from persecution, we should never expect to receive help from anyone else in the future.  No one is going to put their neck on the line if they feel as though they cannot trust us to cover their back.

Killing Osama bin Laden is the Most Audacious Plan in 500 Years

Posted by Troy on 20th March 2012 in Current Events, Political

Joe Biden has recently said that killing Osama bin Laden was the most audacious plan in 500 years.  This is a pretty steep claim.  Let’s see, that goes back to 1512.  Too bad, so close to Columbus setting sail in 1492.  Okay, let’s throw some ideas out there:

1 – The Spanish sending 500 men to conquer Mexico, 1528.  Mexico’s a huge place.  Even playing guns vs. bows, that’s a pretty heavy load.

2 – Germany thinking they could take over the world (twice), WWI and WWII.  Germany’s pretty small.  Why would they think that they could beat the entire world?

3 – D-Day, 1944.  An amphibious assault against well fortified bunkers across 100 yards of open land.  Yeah.  That.

4 – The battle of Inchon, 1950.  MacArthur beaches his own ships, leaving them stuck on dry land until high tide, to gain an advantage.  If the Koreans respond quickly, all the ships and sailors are dead meat.

5 – The moon landing.  We can debate if it happened or not, but it’s definitely an audacious plan, isn’t it?

6 – Operation Eagle Claw, 1980.  I didn’t say all audacious plans are smart.  Most audacious plans are stupid.  This was Carter’s idea to save the hostages in Iran.  About ten things had to go off perfectly to give it a 50/50 shot of being a success.  I like to pretend Carter isn’t from Georgia sometimes.

7 – Pearl Harbor, 1941.  Isoroku Yamamoto warned Japan that, if they attacked Pearl Harbor, they would severely injure the American Pacific fleet.  The Japanese would then be free to wreck havoc for about six months, but then America would recover and would slowly push them back and would defeat Japan.  As he responded after Pearl Harbor, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”

8 – The American Revolution, 1776.  Thirteen small colonies stand against the most powerful empire the world had ever seen.

9 – The Constitution, 1787.  The first representative republic is formed.  The birth of the modern era of government for the people, by the people.

10 – Obamacare, 2010.  Give the man his credit.  He won’t let the will of the people, common sense, or the Constitution stop him from getting his way.  That’s pretty damn audacious.

There are probably hundreds more audacious plans.  I just ripped these off the top of my head based only on my knowledge of US History.  If I had extensive knowledge of the histories of other countries, I should image they have just as many audacious plans.

The Moral Arguement for Assassination

Posted by Troy on 10th May 2011 in Current Events

There is some talk to Obama ordered the assassination of Osama bin Laden.  Thanks to President Ford, this would be a crime.  It is also a war crime under the Geneva Convention.  So what?

Which is more moral?  Killing 100,000 troops who really have no desire for war?  Or blowing the brains out of the one asshole that’s actually causing a problem?  100,000 mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters and friends and lovers and wives wailing in misery, or the celebration of the world at the death of the one guy that’s causing the problem?  You tell me, which is more moral…war or assassination?

What Really Happened to Osama bin Laden in Pakistan

Posted by Troy on 5th May 2011 in Current Events, Political

There are so many questions.  One thing is for certain, the Administration is hiding something.  I have finally figured out what has happened:

We did kill Osama bin Laden.  There were survivors.  They would have refuted or confirmed if he was there.  As such, we have to assume we really got him.

So, why would we dump the body?

We dumped the body because the body told a narrative that they didn’t want to be told.  It told the story of a man who had been shot in the back or otherwise died defenseless.

What Obama wanted to happen:  We fly in.  He puts up a fight.  We kill him.  We give him an honorable funeral.  The whole Middle East sees we’re not monsters.  Obama’s poll numbers jump into the stratosphere, and he rides it to re-election.

What really happened:  We flew in.  He either tried to surrender or just didn’t fight back.  We couldn’t take him alive.  Could you imagine the amount of trouble we’d have?  Military tribunals, criminal cases, bomb threats, the Middle East demanding his release, et cetera.  No, Obama had to have ordered him killed.  We had that funeral service up and running pretty quick.  This was all planned out.  However, we had to kill unarmed people who tried to keep him from us.  The body was ruined in the process.  Remember that picture of Hilary looking shocked?  It was probably at the deaths she was witnessing.  Amazingly, 30 minutes of the tape of the raid is blacked out.  Huh, gee, I wonder what was on there.

I do no begrudge what happened.  That man was Evil, and the world is better off without him.  Anyone who lived in that house with him knew the type of man he was and was complicit in him escaping justice.  You lay down with dogs; you get flees.  The problem is that Obama is not a strong leader.  A very strong leader would have assassinated the man, and not taken credit for it.  Oh, Pakistan would have known it was us, but they wouldn’t be able to prove it (until our helicopter died there).  A strong leader would have just come out and said, “We killed him for his crimes.  Let this be a warning to all those who would kill innocent Americans.”  However, Obama started a ball of lies rolling.  Regardless of if bin Laden tried to surrender or if he was armed or not, he needed to die.  Taking him prisoner would have caused so much more pain and suffering.  We all know what would happen if we had him in jail.  Those Seals saved us so much.  The cost of one bullet probably saved us millions in security and court costs, not to mention property damage and loss of life in suicide bombings.  I don’t think Osama was terribly concerned that people in the World Trade Center were unarmed.  We have to lose this obsession with thinking that the entire world has Constitutional rights.  The right to Due Process of Law is only guaranteed to citizens and those who are here legally and thus covered under the Constitution’s jurisdiction.

The reason Obama can never admit to it is that this operation pretty much betrays everything he ever said on the campaign trail.  He has never kept a single promise he made in the campaign.  In fact, he has pretty much done the exact opposite on all fronts except for Obamacare.

Osama bin Laden – Alternate theories

Posted by Troy on 4th May 2011 in Current Events, Political

The disposal of the only evidence in the matter sheds doubt.  Was Osama bin Laden really killed on May 1, 2011?  Possible explanations:

Obama, fearful of reprisal from Muslim Extremists and trying to win the hearts of un-extreme Muslims, buries the body at sea.  This destroys the only real proof of bin Laden’s death and really annoys our closest allies that want to see the body.  This is, however, completely in Obama’s character.  I give this a 50% chance of being the true story.  The only reason why it is so high is that it would involve too many players to blow the secret and there were survivors of the raid which (I assume) cooraborate that Osama was there.

Osama died either in the raid of Tora Bora or of disease and we discovered it.  Perhaps we found his corpse in the mountains and identified the body.  We staged this assault for a Hooray moment and to boost Obama’s tanking popularity (which isn’t going to work…being unemployed and paying $5 for gas still sucks even with Osama dead).  I give this a 45% chance of being the truth.

Finally, what would seal the problems with both these stories is that he wasn’t killed at all.  Instead, he was taken alive and is being interrogated.  They staged the funeral so that Muslim extremists wouldn’t continually suicide bomb stuff demanding his release.  However, I don’t think that Obama has the guts to pull this off.  I give this a 5% chance.

The other possibility is that they reached an agreement with Osama bin Laden to fake his death in exchange for information, et cetera.  I feel this is remote.  I put no chance to this one.

The fact of the matter is that they are continually changing their story.  It’s like listening to a teenager who keeps building a tower of lies to cover up other lies.  It’s like they are focus testing the story as they go, and if it’s not polling right, they change it.  Something very odd is going on with the whole thing.

Osama bin Laden Effect on Obama’s Re-election

Posted by Troy on 3rd May 2011 in Current Events, Political

A lot of people are concerned that Obama’s killing of Osama has cemented his re-election.  However, this is mistaken.  The latest poll shows that he only received a 9% boost in approval from this news.  However, it’s about the economy.  If unemployment, gas and food prices, inflation, and the national debt are not dealt with satisfactory, he has little chance of getting elected unless Trump splits the ticket or the Republicans run someone who has no chance of being elected.  Obama seems to have no plan to deal with any of these issues.  The way he is talking would predict that he will only make things worse if he does anything at all.  Regardless of his attempt to take all the credit and people’s euphoria over bin Laden’s death, Obama’s re-election is far from certain.

Osama Buried at Sea: The No Body Rule

Posted by Troy on 2nd May 2011 in Current Events, Political

In comics, there is a “No Body” rule.  That is to say, if you don’t see the body, they’re not really dead.

Why on Earth would you bury this guy at sea?  While I will say that it fits in entirely with Obama’s modus operandi, he had to know that it would instantly put into doubt that Osama bin Laden was really killed on May 1, 2011.  By destroying the body, they also destroyed the only piece of verifiable evidence.  I don’t care if the Muslim belief states that you have to be buried within twenty-four hours.  Most peaceful Muslims also say that their belief states you should not massacre 3,000 people.  As such, Osama should be rotting in hell either way.  Yo, Barry, here’s what you’re supposed to do in this situation:  hang his corpse at Ground Zero until his bones are bleached by the sun or stick his head on a pike.  Read some history.  (Yes, I know that would cause massive suicide runs to recover the body.  It’s called hyperbole, people).  With this new revelation, I have to assume this:  Osama was already dead (he was on dialysis ten years ago…), we got concrete evidence that he was really dead, and we staged this to give us a hooray moment and get Obama some credit.  It’s incredible they pulled off this military operation without anyone being wounded, it not being documented (all these raids are supposed to be taped), no pictures to be released, the body was washed and dumped within twelve hours, and they were able to get a positive DNA test within hours of the body being recovered.  It’s not impossible that all this went down, but it would pretty much state that God himself got involved.  Regardless, he is certainly dead.  There is no way they would do this unless there was no way he could pop up later and say, “Here I am!”

If I killed Osama bin Laden, that would have been the most document corpse in the history of corpses.  If they ever found Jimmy Hoffa, his ghost would complain about how his corpse didn’t get near the press coverage as Osama’s.

Now about the speech.  Obama still hasn’t learned how to be a leader.  When something good happens, it’s “We.”  When something bad happens, it’s “I.”  I have never seen a President say “I” so many times.  He never takes responsibility and never shares the credit.  I especially liked it when he talked about dropping in from the ceiling with his hand-tooled rifle he crafted himself and personally taking out Osama before flying back to DC to give this speech.
