In defense of Israel

Posted by Troy on 5th August 2014 in Current Events, Political

Israel is being condemned for killing little kids and what not.  Here’s a question:

If Mexico was firing 130 rockets at Dallas every day, how long do you think it would take before we told our government to do something about it?  Not only that, but we are the kings of disproportionate responses.  We’d blow them to hell and back.  Of course, we would try to hit military targets, but innocents always die.

“That’s different!  The Palestinians have been oppressed!”

Yeah, well, what if it was an Indian tribe  then?  Even if we were shooting down 100% of the rockets, you would NOT tolerate that crap, nor should you.

Furthermore, I don’t care if you are oppressed.  Blacks were oppressed in this country.  Did they start firing rockets?  Nope.  And good thing too, or the Civil Rights Movement would have ended very differently (in fact, it would have ended kinda like what you are seeing in Gaza).

Finally, you know what?  Hamas WANTS dead kids.  You know how I know?  They are using schools and hospitals and residential areas from which to launch attacks.  If you cared about your children, you would not do that.  Know why?  Because it puts them in harm’s way.  But they don’t mind.  They want dead children because they know that it will make Israel look bad.  Their religion doesn’t care.  Whatever it takes to advance the religion.  It doesn’t matter who gets killed.

“But that’s Hamas!  That’s not the Palestinians!”

Um, they elected Hamas.  Hamas has promised the destruction of Israel.  By electing Hamas, the Palestinians have shown their hand and what they want their country to be about.

We should not stop Israel nor should we help them.  We have meddled in their affairs for far too long.  No country should nor would put up with what the Israelis have put up with for this long.

Jewish News Paper Calls for Obama to be Assassinated

Posted by Troy on 20th January 2012 in Current Events

I remember a movie about Bush being assassinated that was hailed as artwork and condemned by the Right.

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech.  I was fine with the Bush film, and I’m okay with this as well.  However, it is unseemly.  Also, when you start talking about somebody being assassinated, you start walking a very, very thin line.  In this day in age (the age of the Patriot Act and NDAA), I would advise people to avoid such discussions.  Besides, you never know when some nut job is going to read what you wrote and decide that you were giving them a direct order.

National Defense Authorization Act

Today they released a report saying that domestic terrorists tend to blame the government or speak out about the government and use the Internet to connect with like minded people.  Even though the NDAA allows people to be arrested by the military and stripped of their constitutional rights (Amendments 5 to 8), there’s no cause for concern.  Of course, this could be used to describe the Tea Party, Anonymous, and countless other groups as terrorists.  The politicians admit this, but say that they would never abuse this power.  My favorite part of the debate was Mitt Romney being booed when he said he would have signed the NDAA.  Here’s the thing, even if I trusted Obama with all my heart (sorry, I couldn’t stop laughing…I’m back now), there’s no way I would give FUTURE PRESIDENTS WHO I DO NOT KNOW this power.  Someone is going to abuse it.

Ron Paul has put a bill up to repeal the most egregious part of the NDAA.  And yet people call Ron Paul dangerous.  Which is more dangerous to you?  Iran with a nuclear weapon, or your government stripping your rights?  Which of these two is actually more likely?  Iran uses a nuclear weapon, or your government crushing all of our liberties?

Gilad Schalit – Prisoner swap

Posted by Troy on 18th October 2011 in Current Events

Israel recently swapped over 1,000 prisoners for 1 soldier.  Many people would look at this and say, “Look at how loyal the Israelies are.  They are willing to trade over a thousand prisoners for but one of their soldiers.”  I would say that they are foolish.  While I feel sorry for Gilad Schalit, there is no way I would release 1,000 prisoners.  I might release 1 prisoner in a one for one swap.  What they have done is release one soldier in exchange for over a thousand who may be involved in terrorism, murder, or other crimes.  Far worse, they have made their opposition look stronger.  They have given them heart.  Now others may flock to the Palestinian border.

The Case for Democracy – Natan Sharansky

Posted by Troy on 23rd September 2011 in Current Events, Political

This book is an eye-opening experience.  Natan Sharansky grew up and lived in Soviet Russia.  He speaks about tyranny in ways that will take your breath away, and some of the passages nearly made me cry.  The basic premise of the book is that dictators and tyrants cannot be allies.  A tyrant will only have you as an ally until you are no longer useful.  A tyrant must convince their people that there are enemies inside and without their country.  The tyrannical government must keep a rifle pointed at the outside enemy and their own people.  When well intentioned nations try to deal with these countries and curry favor, they are propping up the arms that hold the gun.

Sharansky moved to Israel and discusses the Palestinian problem in this context.  Most people in the West do not understand the people who are ruling over Palestine.  According to Glenn Beck, who recently went there, most Palestinians want peace and want to deal with Israel openly.  However, if they speak out, the militants will kill or otherwise harm them.  I believe it.  This is the kind of thing groups like Ha-mas and Nazis do.  They make the outside world believe that the populace supports the party’s view, but in reality, most of their citizens hate these groups.

This book is especially relevant given the recent turn of events.  I think it is funny insofar as Obama is going to look like a total hypocrite.  He spoke of having a separte Palestine by now, and here we are.  Now he’s going to have to use his Veto power as one of the members of the Security Council.  He just cannot understand that words have meanings.  He thinks he can give a little speech, people will clap, his ratings will go up, and there will not be any other consequences.

The UN cannot create a Palestinian state.  The Israelis will not accept it, this will lead to pure fury in Palestine and the Muslim world, and there will be a war.  If Israel does cave in, then Ha-mas will be a beachhead to Iran, and Israel could be destroyed militarily.  Think of it this way, how would you like it if the Cherokee nation went to the UN and demanded the whole United States back?  Would we give in?  Would we say, “Oh, well…I guess that’s what the UN said so…okay.”  No.  We would never accept such a thing.  The whole Israel issue is a direct result of a multinational body declaring a group of people have the rights to property and granting statehood in the first place.

Sadly, if we veto it, such an act will cause much hatred of the United States in the Middle East and will unify the Muslim extremists against us.  However, they would hate us anyway.  The only way to win those people over would be to enact Sharia Law in America.

Outrage at the Media Bias

Posted by Troy on 13th June 2011 in Political

Any sane, nonpartisan person knows that there is some bias in the media.  The majority of it is on the Left.  Fox News is on the Right.  However, there are limits to what we can accept.  The LA Times had a tape of Obama attending a pro-Palestine rally and praised a member of the PLO.  They refused to release the tape.  It could be argued that this tape could have affected the vote of a rational, informed voter.

How is this any different than a broker withholding information from a potential investor because he wants the commission?  We would throw him in jail, and rightly so.

This is criminal.  This is controlling the flow of information for political means.  This basically makes the LA Times just a propaganda machine.  No legitimate news organization can willingly hide the truth from the People.  This is a complete outrage.

If you read the LA Times, I would suggest you find another newspaper.  It is clear that they are actively determining what information you have privy too.  This is a legitimate story that had actual implications.  If people had seen this, then Obama’s current bias against Israel would have been discovered before he started spitting in the face of our only ally over there.

Benjamin Netanyahu Disrespects President Obama

Posted by Troy on 23rd May 2011 in Current Events, Political

Everyone (on the Left anyway) seems to be upset that Netanyahu disrespected Obama.  This is interesting as this the same group that cheered whenever anyone (even brutal dictators such as Hugo Chavez) disrespected President Bush.

The fact of the matter is that President Obama deserved to be disrespected.  How dare he tell another country where their borders should be?  This would be exactly as if China told us that we should give back the Southwestern states to Mexico to stop the violence on the border.  We would be outraged, and we should be.  [Sadly, I know that there are Americans that think that would be a wonderful idea.]

There are people that dream of a world with no borders.  However, if you were take an average of the laws and cultures that most of the world lives under, I should doubt any American would want to live in such a world.

Obama the Most Anti-Semitic President in the Modern Era

Posted by Troy on 19th May 2011 in Current Events

What is with Obama on Israel?  The fact of the matter is, Israel was attacked in 1967.  They defended themselves, and to the victor goes the spoils.  If they had lost, do you think their enemies would consider, even for a moment, giving Israel back their land?  Hell no.

Obama is doing to the Muslim extremists what Europe did with Hitler: Appeasement.  Let’s be frank.  If Israel gave back the land, do you think Palestinians and the surrounding countries would decide that “Hey, Israel’s alright, I tell ya what.”  Nah…they would probably say, “Israel is weak, and America has turned their back on them.  Now is the time.”

Personally, I believe Obama is a big picture person.  He believes, like many others, that the Middle East is a hell hole because Israel exists.  In the long run, he believes that there would be peace if Israel was wiped off the map.  Sacrifices must be made for the greater good.   I actually don’t think he’s anti-semitic.  He acts that way, but he has nothing against the Jews other than the fact that their mere existence destabilizes the region.  Of course, he would do well to read some history.  That area of the world has always been hot.  It will probably always be that way until humans are extinct.
