CNN Republican Debate

Posted by Troy on 15th December 2015 in Current Events, Political

Not a huge fan of the CNN debate.  I felt like they gave Cruz and Rubio way too much time, and this prevented others from showcasing themselves.  Also, the question, “So you’re for thousands of dead Syrian kids,” was a bit much.  I mean… seriously, guys…

Trump – I think that Trump may have finally shot himself in the foot.  Saying that he would go after the ISIS families is a bit much.  I mean, it’s effective.  It’s the Total War approach that Sherman used against the South.  In all honesty, its the only thing that might work…or lead to a true religious war ending with the extermination of one group or the other.  The statement though, does make him look unhinged.  It’s a shame because he said some good stuff too.  Such as: We either have a country or we don’t.  If we have one, we have to enforce our borders.  Anyone here illegally, gets shipped out.  Yep, true true.

Cruz – I think he was the big winner tonight.  He didn’t say anything stupid and made a few good points.  He also avoided picking fights with the conservative candidates (although he did go after a few of the Establishment ones).

Rubio – I think that he is going to be the Establishment candidate.  So, here’s the take-away for the night: he is pro-pathway to citizenship [he does say that the border must be secured and legal immigration system fixed, and then we'd look at the people who were already here...but let's be honest, that's not he the way it would actually go down], he is pro military adventurism in the Middle East, and he is pro-spying on American citizens.  Needless to say, I can’t support him.

Carson – He had a pretty good night.  I don’t know if he will move up, but he is calm and measured.  What he said made a lot of sense too.  I don’t like the moment of silence at the beginning of his night.  It screams of “I don’t have anything to say,”/time eating.  I know that’s not the case, but that’s how it kinda reads.  I thought he did a good job of arguing that you don’t have to scream to be tough.

Fiorina – Man, she is so reasoned and calm.  Shame she blends into the background so much.  In particular, after debates, she just disappears.  She doesn’t have a good promotion team.  However, the lady understands messaging.  I have to give her that.  Shame CNN focused so much of their time on Cruz and Rubio.

Rand Paul – He was one hundred percent correct on everything.  We are moving away from the Constitution.  Our debt is our biggest national security weakness.  Several people up there either don’t understand what they are saying or don’t truly believe what they say.  It is a shame that he doesn’t have a more outstanding personality.  Still a big fan of his, but he cannot win the nomination.

Christie – He is someone that sounds good if you don’t know who he really is.  Although, I really enjoyed Rand Paul taking him down over the no-fly zone.  Oh, if looks could kill…

Kasich – Everybody was kung-fu fighting…have you ever noticed how much he moves his hands when he talks?  He did make some good point during the night, but I honestly cannot say what it was.  It seems his entire campaign strategy is, “Look, I can give you Ohio.”  I don’t know why he doesn’t dropout.

Bush – Did anyone else catch the Kermit the Frog impression?  ha ha ha.  He’s got nothing.  He actually did stand up to Trump this time, but it’s too little, too late.  He has zero credibility.  The sad thing is that he lost his credibility by not being able to go toe to toe with Trump previously.  Now, he’s trying to regain it by going after him constantly.  Unfortunately for him, it just makes him look rude and annoying.

Long Live the Constitution!

The GOP Debate Results

I’m a little behind schedule, but here’s my breakdown:

Trump continues to mold himself as a populist movement.  I feel like his greatest strength is his desire to stand his ground and never back down.  He will face enormous challenges.  The main challenge is that the media is against him, and the establishment hates him.  As such, he’s just kinda isolated.  Still he has an ability to tap into the anger a lot of voters have and voice the opinions that the “cool kids” have deemed uncool but that the majority believes is right.  That can be a very powerful combo.

Carson is the epitome of reasonable, rational thought.  Nothing seems to really faze him, and he just continues to come across as calm and collected.  I like him a great deal.

Fiorina has been doing a very good job.  She is showing that she has detailed plans, and she is very quick on her feet.  She’s sharp, and I like her.

I love Rand Paul’s love of the Constitution and his Constitutional view of the Presidency and the Federal Government.  Unfortunately, he just doesn’t have the force of personality to garner support.  I hope that logical thinkers will follow him.

Cruz is okay.  However, he gives lip service to the Constitution while ignoring parts that he doesn’t agree with.  Still, he’s the second most Constitutional candidate.

Rubio is a false candidate.  He is pro-NSA, which I will never get behind.  Basically, being for NSA is being anti-Constitutional.  Any right that you can ignore is not a right.  It’s a privilege.  He is also pro-Amnesty which will give the right to vote to millions who came here illegally, do not respect our laws, and will vote for Democrats as part of the permanent underclass.

Jeb Bush is a Bush and is pretty much a Democrat.  Why the hell would ANYONE vote for this guy?

Christie is a slimy bastard.  He does not believe in the Constitution.  He believes your rights are subject to the government’s whims.  He would be another emperor.  He is unworthy of the position.

The rest are boring and are beneath my notice.
