Obama’s Plan for ISIS

Posted by Troy on 18th September 2014 in Current Events, Political

Wow.  What can you say about this?  Basically, he is too afraid that people will say that he put us in another war.  I hate to say it, but he has no qualities that are necessary in a Commander in Chief.  He is also trying to use the War Authorization Act so that he doesn’t have to ask Congress for approval.  That’s interesting in itself as I am sure that the Republicans would go along with him on attacking ISIS.  I’m guessing that he doesn’t want to have to make Democrats vote on it: if they vote for it, their base deserts them, but the majority of Americans want something done.  How do Democrats survive elections?  They always have to delay their votes on issues until after the election because how they would vote would piss off their voters.  Who keeps electing these people?

I’m all for airstrikes, but if we are not willing to put “boots on the ground,” we shouldn’t do it.  Basically, if you are not willing to go “total war” on someone, ruling out nothing, even nuclear strikes if that’s what it takes, you should not go to war.  That being said, nuclear strikes are not necessary.  I’m just saying, every war should be approached with the “we are going to win this, hard!” mentality.  I am not a fan of doing something useless for the sake of saying that we did something.  It is a sign of a failing country when they start using mercenaries and troops from other nations to try to fight their battles (see Rome).  The other problem is, “Who is going to follow us?”  We look stupid.  “These people are dangerous.  We need to do something.  We need other countries to step up and put troops on the ground, but we don’t care enough about it to put our own troops at risk.”  How does that inspire confidence?  This is why even long-time, trusted allies like Britain are saying, “Yeah…no thank you.”

For my part, I think “let’s go ahead and wipe these guys out.”  We went into a World War over 119 US citizens killed on a ship.  We have a massed foe that we can kill with relative ease.  Go in, destroy them.  It breaks their allure if you show to the Muslim world that this ISIS army of a few thousand is little more than a mosquito to be swatted.  Don’t do it, and it will grow.  They may take over the governments of Iraq and Syria, and then you have a real problem.

Right now we have a President that cares more about election polls than doing what his office and duties demand.  That’s the real danger.

Rand Paul vs McCain on Drone Strikes

Posted by Troy on 9th March 2013 in Political

Senators McCain and Graham ridicule Rand Paul for suggesting that the government would kill American citizens with a drone all willy nilly.  So you are probably asking, what does the Swamp Fox think?

They miss the point.  If you were to ask me if I have the right to kill you, and I replied “yes,” what would you think of me?  If I respond, well, I might have reason to, such as self-defense?  That does not change the fact that I believe I have the right to kill you.  It’s about the perception.

If the government says they have the right to take everything you own if they view it as necessary, would you go along with it?  If they say you have the right to keep and bear arms unless they decide to take it from you, would you care?  If they say you had the right to free speech as long as long as they don’t disapprove, is that a big deal?

The government that says they can arbitrarily take anything away from you (especially your life) is tyrannical in nature.  Under such a government, you have no rights except for the ones they decide to allow you to keep.  In other words, you have no rights.

That is the point.  Any government that believes they have the right to kill you outside the proper context of the law believes they have complete power over you.

Rand wins.

Why isn’t Libya and hiding the jobs numbers a big deal?

Posted by Troy on 29th October 2012 in Current Events, Political

For the life of me, I cannot understand this.  We have a case where American soil (our embassy) was attacked.  Our ambassador was murdered.  A massive cover-up of these events occurred.  The President knowingly lied to us for three weeks about the reasons for the attack.  An American was wrongfully thrown in jail over these events (the filmmaker).  And the only reason to lie is for political gain.  And no one cares?  As the man said, if he lied to you once, he’ll lie to you again.  We impeached Nixon over a silly little burglary, and we’re going to let this slide?  McCain is right: either they are lying or this is gross incompetence.  Since no one has been fired (specifically Hillary Clinton), we can assume that it’s lying.

And so now the Department of Labor isn’t going to release the job numbers Friday because of the weather.  The results have been computed since last week.  All they have to do is click the “Send” button, and we’re done.  So why won’t they release them?  I am going to say because it will so the last numbers were inaccurate.  In order for the last numbers to be correct, 342,000 part time jobs would have had to have been created.  In a good month, you might expect 20,000 such jobs.  Where did the other 322,000 jobs come from?  And now we’re not going to see the real number.  Why?

Of course, I guess if you don’t mind being lied to about Libya, maybe you don’t mind being lied to about the economy as well.  That’s fortunate.  Should Obama win, you will get to have four more years of lies about the economy.  Enjoy.
