Super-committee fails

The Super-Committee failed.

On one hand:  Thank God.  The Constitution does not allow for a “Super-Committee” to enter into a binding contract in which not all fifty states have an opportunity at representation.

On Obama saying that he will not allow the Congress to by pass the mandatory cuts:  It depends on what he means by that.  I agree that holding their feet to the fire is the only way to get something done.  However, are they allowed to continue to work, as an entire Congress, towards getting the cuts necessary?  If so, then I approve of his tactic.  If he is saying that the mandatory cuts can no way be avoided, then I believe he is actively trying to destroy America, and there can be no other interpretation (unless you want to say that he’s an ideological idiot).

On the cuts, should they happen:  It’s a dark day that it’s come to this.  This is what happens when people don’t take responsibility and do what needs to be done.

I should note that the Democrats get whatever they want.  If the Republicans cave, they get tax hikes.  If nothing gets done, they get large cuts in the defense budget.  In either case, the Republicans lose!  What a deal!  It also dovetails into Obama’s narrative that Republicans are a “Do Nothing Congress.”

Long Live the Constitution!

DOW crashes – S&P Downgrade – Tea Party Downgrade

Posted by Troy on 8th August 2011 in Current Events, Political

The spin is out…this is the “Tea Party Downgrade.”  This is a complete lie.  S&P downgraded our debt based upon our deficit spending.  The Tea Party is all about cutting the debt.  The Democrats originally wanted just a debt increase without any added income or reduced spending.  That should tell you where they are.  At best, they are at the status quo.  However, prior speeches by key Democrats state that they think that we should reduce the debt but continue to “invest” in our future.  Investing is a codeword for spending.

I said it once, and I’ll say it again.  The only time to have deficit spending is in Congressionally declared war or to fund a major project which is exceptional/temporary in nature.  It is okay to borrow in order to build an interstate system.  However, we cannot borrow to maintain the road system.  Ask any business owner.  They will tell you that it is okay to borrow in order to do a remodel.  However, if you are having to borrow constantly in order to  buy inventory and make payroll, you might as well close down.  If your normal revenues cannot cover your day-to-day expenses, it is unsustainable.

Long Live the Constitution!

The Democrats claim they can only cut 10 billion from the budget.  This amounts to .023% of the total budgetary spending.  They claim this is all that can be cut without destroying our economy.  You know, I could cut 20% of my household budget.  Sure, life would suck, but I could do it.  I put forth that if things have gotten so bad that we are this far in debt and can only cut .023% of our budget without destroying ourselves, it’s pretty much game over.

Good one, guys.

Making it rain in Wisconsin

Posted by Troy on 17th February 2011 in Current Events, Political

If you’ve been watching the news, you’ve seen the protests in Wisconsin over the state wishing to say “no more” to the Unions.  It is finally time for us to really look at this.  Unions are a major reason why we are in the mess we are in.

When Unions started off, they were very good thing indeed.  It was really the only way a worker could get a fair shake in the labor market.  They were subject to pitiful wages and hazardous working conditions (although some of this has been greatly exaggerated by authors of the time who were trying to make a point).  However, as my dad always says, then money got involved, and it all went to shit.

Do you really think the Union leaders give a damn about the workers now?  No, they are more interested in their union dues and their conferences in the Bahamas and what not.  They don’t care.  It’s all about the stacks.  It’s all about the paper.  It’s all about the money.  Plain and simple.  What started off as a good thing just became about the money.

In particular, we should be against any unionization of state workers.  Unions are supposed to protect workers from unfair labor practices.  Are we really going to argue that the government is a bad employer?  Also, it used to be that people went to work for the government because it was a stable job with good benefits.  It may not pay much, but there was security.  However, the unions just keep milking and milking the budget, and now they make more than the rest of us, and guess who gets to pay for it?  Yep, the rest of us.  They play on our emotions.  “Surely, firefighters and police and teachers should be paid more.  Look at how important their job is!”  Meanwhile, unions actively protect inept teachers who are, in turn, making our children inept as well.

To make matters worse, the Democrats there have absconded.  They have left their duty behind to obstruct the legislative practice.  Fascists love this tactic.  Bending the rules and exploiting loopholes to achieve their ends.  Can we have just one real man there?  One man who will stand up and proclaim his point and weather the storm?  No, they run away like children, like cowards.  The fact of the matter is that the people of Wisconsin voted.  If the people disapprove of the job the Republicans do, then the Democrats will trounce them in the next election, and they can restore bargaining rights and give them raises and dance in an orgy of spending and debt as they make it rain for the union leaders like strippers in a sleazy club as they buy the Union vote yet again.

Therein shows the real fear.  The Democrats and Unions know that people are going to approve of it.  It is going to break the Union’s power over the Democrats, it’s going to break the coffers of the Democrats for their war chest, and the people are going to love it.  There is literally no upside for them in this.  This is why they are doing everything they can to try to stop this vote.

It can’t rain forever.  The sun will come out tomorrow.
