Unniversal Background Checks

Well, it finally happened.  A mass shooter bought his gun in a private sale.  Naturally, since this happened one time, we have to make a new law to handle thousand and thousand transactions.

Some people would say “what is the harm of making John pay $5 for a background check when he buys a gun from Joe?”

The only issue is that it creates a de facto registry.  As such, hardcore gun rights people will never go along with it.

I will attempt to create a system that I think people will accept.

1 – It only applies to “assault weapon” sales,

2 – The seller’s information is not recorded as it is unimportant,

3- and it is voluntary.

If you choose to forgo a background check, and that weapon is used in a crime, you can be charged with being an accessory to the crime and/or be liable for civil proceedings for wrongful death.

Long live the Constitution!
