When a vanquished enemy is throwing shade, how sweet it is to remember that they are in retreat and laugh at their self-aggrandizement.
I listen to him rail against authoritarianism, demanding that people accept propaganda, betraying the constitution, eroding the trust in institutions, demonizing the other side, money in politics, and other matters and I laugh as I cry out to the television “That is all you!”
He had way more money than McCain. Didn’t Obama say that Presidential Candidates should use public funding only? Guess that only applies when the Republican had more money. Didn’t Hillary outspend Trump two to one?
When Obama won, he told Republicans to sit down and shut up. He won. Elections have consequences, and he would do as he want. While his own hubris created the Tea Party and saw a steady erosion in Democrat Representatives and Senators and governors and state legislatures, Obama turned to his phone and pen to write his own laws (many flat overturned in 9 to 0 decisions in the Supreme Court). If you denied him, you were a racist. If you didn’t see things his way, you were a clinger or a science denier, or just a moron.
If you voted for Trump, it was clear you hated everyone that wasn’t rich and white and male and straight.
He goes and and on about how we should be one people while at every turn demonizing half, splintering us into as many groups as possible. His concept of compromise is the Right should give the Left everything they want at all turns regardless of who is in power while the Left should obstruct every possible thing of the Right on a matter of principal.
As I watch the most two-faced mothafuka I’ve ever seen give his final little speech, it would be easy to be angry or upset at his half-veiled swipes, at his strokin’ his own ego, at his promise to go into the lobbying business post-”retirement.” But instead, I just laugh.
You should always laugh at a good joke, and that’s all his Presidency was.
Long Live the Constitution!
