The response to the shootings

Posted by Troy on 15th August 2019 in Uncategorized

We gotta do something!

That is the cry.  We got to do something.  Doesn’t matter if it would have done anything.  Just as long as we can say we did SOMETHING.

Expanded background checks would not stop any of these shootings.  All of these guns were purchased legally.

Red flag laws are problematic. You are taking away a person’s Constitutional right without due process.  The only way I can support such an initative is if it operates the following way: someone makes the accusation. An emergency hearing is made before a judge with the accused and accuser.  If the judge beieves there may be an issue, the guns are seiezed until the accused can receive a psychological evaluation.  Then if the evaluation turns up negative, the accused can demand a jury trial.

My Epstein conspiracy theory

Posted by Troy on 12th August 2019 in Current Events

It is hard to believe it is a simple suicide given all the facts and circumstances.  So here is my conspiracy theory:

He was part of a ring.  Patrons were given girls of a certain age, a safe place to practice their taste, and the promise of anonymity.  In exchange for this, they agreed to an expensive price tag and to be videoed or photographed.  This was to assure mutual protection.

Epstein was the concierge and was afforded a billionaire lifestyle as payment and as a cover to how he had all these high power friends.

Epstein was saved once, but now there is too much attention and he could not be saved again.  As such, he was ordered to kill himself to make good on the mutual protection pact.

There ya go.

Trump supporters clean up Baltimore

Posted by Troy on 8th August 2019 in Uncategorized

170 Trump supporters removed 12 tons of trash from Baltimore.  Did you hear about this? Probably not.  The news is much more interested in saying that the shooter in El Paso who disavowed Trump is the standard Trump supporter.

Is it any wonder why we stay divided when even this act cannot be celebrated?

The proposed gun control measures

I thought that Trump’s speech on the shootings was very good.

I do think that our culture of celebrating death and violence is a factor.  It is a joke that Hollywood demands gun control while making millions every year featuring these evil guns.  I think these things do have an effect, but it the vast majority of people can partake and not go on killing sprees, so it doesnt make sense to ban them.

The red flag laws sound like a good idea but are inherently problematic.  What is the threshold? Who decides if someone is a danger?  Is there any punishment for false accusation?  What if someone actually is a danger and gets their guns back and is now super pissed?

Everyone talks about needing expanded background checks, but in all these mass shootings, the guns were purchased subject to a background check.

What about an assault weapons ban?  Frankly it would have little effect on the problem.  Shooters would just use different weapons.  The Virginia State shooter used pistols.

There is only one thing that will make us safe, and that is morality.  The real issue is that we have a bunch of lonely young men.  They have no friends.  They generally don’t have a girlfriend.  They lack purpose and direction.  They spiral and snap.  The only effective way forward is to rebuild the foundations of morality and community that we have lost.

Tim Ryan and Others and Their Reaction to the Shootings

Without even missing a breath, Democrat contenders blame the shootings on Trump for saying we should send illegal immigrants back to their home country.

First of all, nothing I am to say is to excuse the actions of the shooters.  When Columbine happened, I remarked the fact that no one talked about the bullying those kids received prior to snapping.  That didn’t justify them.

Second, the Ohio shooter was a crazy leftist and hated Trump.

Third, the El Paso shooter said he was that way before Trump.

Fourth, likewise with the Columbine shooter, the failure of our government to secure the border created an environment that created frustration and other negative emotions that set this off.

Fifth, we don’t discuss how social media or the political statements on both sides may have played a factor.  They say Trump saying “send them back” causes it but don’t consider how promising healthcare or citizenship or open borders may have fed into this man’s actions.

Finally, it is a damn shame that the Left is so gung ho to blame Trump.  They appear MUCH more interested in using it politically than addressing any problem.  They would have been better served to come out and say, “The only one to blame for this is the sick individual who pulled the trigger.  But we must come together and figure out how we can prevent these kinds of attacks.”  Come at it as an open invitation to a discussion instead of a perfunctory statement of blame and a push for the same requested gun control measures that would not have prevented such an attack or would have merely made the shooter choose a different gun as the only difference.
