Cuba – God, I hate Obama sooooo much

Posted by Troy on 21st March 2016 in Current Events, Political

I really do.  So, Obama decides to lift the embargos on Cuba.  Ya know, I’m actually for this.  We deal with China, after all, there’s no way to say that’s not a double standard.  But we are giving Cuba all sorts of concessions, and that is a joke.  Here’s how that conversation should go down:

“We have decided to lift our embargos.”

“Oh great!  You need to give us concessions.”

“Ah.  Well… ____ you.  We’ll see you in another 50 years.”

But no, we’ll give them concessions.  Strike one.

Of course, all of this is just a dog and pony show.  This is Obama edging towards, “We need to give Gitmo back to Cuba.”  Strike two.  Seriously, if you think he’s not trying for that, you’re fooling yourself.  That’s what this is all about.

But no.  Not enough.  He had to make me hate him even more by laying a wreath at the memorial for the revolution fighters.  What, those guys that brought communism and 60 years of suffering to their nation?  You have to pause at a memorial to Che Guevara?  Really?

It’s rare I say I hate someone but ____!  Really?!!!

CNN Republican Debate

Posted by Troy on 10th March 2016 in Political

This was a refreshing change from the Fox Ambush Debate.  I wonder if the candidates had copies of the questions, because they seemed very prepared this go around.  What I found most notable in this debate was how many of Trump’s talking points have become parts of the other candidates’ platforms.  I am seeing Trump move a little more to the center as he positions for the general election.  I will say that Trump was the winner in this debate.  Everyone else is running to his positions, and he didn’t do anything to hurt himself.

Fox News Debate

This wasn’t a debate.  This was just Trump bashing.  The entire venue was designed to attack Trump.  This debate had little or nothing to do with learning more about the candidates’ positions.  The amount of time they spent on Trump’s civil case was insane.  If this had been a serious debate, the moderators would have reeled them in.  This is about Fox News and the establishment trying to stop Donald Trump.  I agree with Andrew Wilkow.  I wish that they had showed half as much interest in stopping Obama or Hillary.  It’s backfiring though.  I find myself wanting to support him more.  If they fear him this much, there must be more of a reason.  He has 49% of the vote nationally among Republicans.  This is the Establishment throwing a hissy fit.  When they force a Romney down our throats, we are told “Well, he’s the nominee…so you have to support the party because you don’t want a DEMOCRAT…dooooo you?!!!”  But when the people choose a candidate that the Establishment doesn’t like, they go NUTS.

I am very ashamed of Fox News.  This wasn’t a debate.  It was an ambush.

The Death of the Republican Party

Posted by Troy on 2nd March 2016 in Current Events, Political

The Republican party is talking about how they can keep Trump from becoming the nominee.  This is basically “by hook or by crook.”  They want to be sure that they can have a brokered convention.  When that happens, they will give the nominee to Rubio or Romney or someone more suitable.  If they do this, the Republican Party is DEAD.  It would appear that close to half of Republicans want Trump.  If they give it to someone else when he legitimately won the nomination, these voters will be pissed.  They will feel utterly disenfranchised, and they will go third party.  The Republican Party will never be a national party again.  Hopefully, it would be replaced with the Libertarian party, but it’s entirely possible that the result will actually be a more nationalist party.  While I don’t think that there is a problem with nationalism, nationalistic parties never really work well.  Although, I would actually like to see our government more concerned about America than “America’s place in this world” or “our position at the table of nations” or any other such dumb concepts.  As though the rest of the world is thinking, “I wonder what we could do to improve the plight of children in Detroit.”

If the Republicans want to defeat Trump, they need to convince everyone but Cruz to drop.  If Cruz drops, at least 25% of his supporters go to Trump and Trump wins.  Get it down to a two man race, and let the best man win.
