CNBC Republican Debate Results

Posted by Troy on 28th October 2015 in Current Events, Political

Hmmmm…I think I am going to go from biggest loser to biggest winner.

Biggest loser without a doubt tonight was the CNBC moderators.  Oooooouch.  After Ted Cruz destroyed them, it was open season.  Before he made those comments, I was thinking to myself about their tone and how disgusting the tactics and lines of questioning was.  In fairness, they allowed Ted to answer a question after he squandered his time, but even if they hadn’t, he still won with that response. After that, the candidates (and later on the audience) would hit them back when they thought the moderators were being unfair or just trying to start a fight.  I think they might need a strong drink tonight.

Bush NEEDED tonight.  He is stuck in 5th place after spending way more than anyone else.  I hate to break it to him, but that is as high as he is going to get.  The only people that like him are establishment types.  After Chris Christie and Kasich drop out, there are no more votes coming his way.  Basically, that’s not even enough to put him in contention with Trump or Carson.  It didn’t help that every attack he made on opponents got turned back on him in a crushing fashion.  His campaign is DEAD.

Kasich had a bad night too.  He has some good selling points, honestly.  But he came across as a hater.  He felt like ripping into the favorites (making himself more unlikable) and didn’t bother to really spell out how his solutions were better.  Basically, he called other people vague (or fantasy) while being vague about his own plans.

Huckabee made some good points and came across as likable.  He is also forgettable.  He didn’t get a lot of airtime, which also hurts him.  However, I believe he does these things for exposure for his talk show, so I don’t think he’s too broken up about it.

Rand Paul didn’t do what he needed to do.  God, it breaks my heart to say this.  If you listen to his ideas and what he says, he is 100% spot on.  I agree with him near perfectly, and that doesn’t happen too often.  However, he needed to break out.  He appeals to people that listen to ideas and really thinks about it.  He just doesn’t have the personality and showmanship to stand out in this crowd.  This is not to say he’s not a GREAT candidate or that he doesn’t have GREAT ideas, but this night was a bit of a loss.  However, he has a MOTIVATED group of loyalists, and I believe that he isn’t out.  He can actually run his campaign much cheaper than any of the others because his campaign depends upon motivated individuals.  I think he will stay where he is.  People supporting Paul are doing it on principles.

Now for the winners.

Chris Christie actually made himself seem likable and funny.  He wasn’t as mean and nasty this go around.  His pollsters had a talking to him.  He also made a lot of good points.  However, I still don’t trust the slimy bastard and think he is an authoritarian.  Still, I think he will get a bump as Bush supporters switch over to him.

Fiorina also won, I think.  She is constantly moving up and down.  She is someone you like more when you are listening to her, but then she fades when she is out of sight.  She is so sharp and measured. Really like her, and I think she did well.

Rubio did well.  He had a couple of tight spots, but he also have some good shots at Bush and was able to turn attacks against him back on the attackers.  Still there were a few moments when he had some trouble and sweated a little.  Good job on him pointing out the hypocrisy of the Benghazi coverage.

Cruz did something he really needed to do.  He made himself likable.  I’m not 100% percent behind Cruz.  I do think that he is a little more big government on some things (like the military) than I would like.  I prefer Paul who is a pure Constitutionalist.  However, Cruz is still strong on the Constitution, and he helped his weakest spot–his likability and him coming across as a robot.

Trump did well too.  You see, the thing about Trump is he refuses to be beaten.  He had a lot of trouble moments in the debate, and he just bashed it down with pure force of will.  You can talk about his stances and such, but I’m talking about who had the best night.  Trump did great because he stayed at the fore and never backed down.  As long as he never retreats and never apologizes, he will be first or second.  That’s just the way it is.  That’s all he really has to do.

Carson was the big winner.  He continues to learn and evolve into more and more of a Libertarian.  He is still so damn rational and calm and just damn likable.  If he wins the nomination, he is going to DESTROY Hillary.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend

Posted by Troy on 24th October 2015 in Entertainment

It’s been a while since I have done anything regarding entertainment.  I am giving my endorsement to the CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.  You can catch this show on the CW on Mondays and 8:00 (or watch it online on Hulu or the CW website).

This is a really clever show with quick, witty jokes (think Mindy Project).  The musical aspects will be a hit or miss.  You will ever love them or hate them.  If you do hate them, just know that each show seems to have two short musical sections.  Even if this is not your speed, I have to say that the rest of the show is worth watching even if you have to “suffer through” the musical parts (although I love them).

The only bad thing I will say about this show is that it could fall under the weight of its own premise (as all shows eventually do).  I will enjoy the show until this happens.

Hillary’s Lying Ass

Posted by Troy on 22nd October 2015 in Current Events, Political

I don’t often go into that language, but she disgusts me.  In fact, the entire Left disgusts me today.  Remember when Bill gave the “It depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is,” answer?  Well, that was Hillary today–occasionally smirking with that “I’m getting away with it,” smirk.  That smirk that screams, “I think I’m better than everyone else.”  That smirk is also part of the reason she is so dreadfully unlikable and why Bernie Sanders is going to beat her out.  What’s even more disgusting is that the Left is so thrilled that she’s going to “get away with it.”  Here is one undeniable fact:

She lied.  They knew it was a terrorist attack, and for over a month, they blamed a video.  Why?  Was it a matter of national security?  No.  It was to save Obama’s campaign.  How would it have looked if a terrorist attack happened on his watch in his “success story” of Libya on 9/11 after hundreds of request for additional security?  It would have sunk him.  So they rounded the wagons, and the people in the media protected him.  They withheld military intervention to keep the scale of the event as small as possible, hoping the whole thing would just pass over and everyone wouldn’t question anything.  You can’t tell me the news would have treated McCain or Bush with such kid gloves.

If you still support Hillary, there can be only one interpretation for your stance, “Look, sometimes it’s important that our politicians lie to us.  They are smarter than us, and if they have to mislead us ‘for the greater good,’ then that’s okay.  Most people are too stupid to understand things, so they should just say whatever they need to say because the ends justify the means.”  I disagree.  The world that has to be saved on a lie isn’t worth saving.

Seriously, what other interpretation can there be?  They knowingly and openly lied.  If you do not demand justice and accountability, you are for tyranny.  You just want a tyrant you agree with.

How could ANYONE trust Hillary Clinton after watching her bend the truth to the point of making it into a pretzel?

The Democratic Debate Results

Posted by Troy on 13th October 2015 in Uncategorized

Cold dead hands, yo!  Cold dead hands…just sayin’.  Most of the people on the stage want people to be able to sue gun manufacturers for wrongful deaths.  Let us be honest: This is just an attempt to ban guns.  Anytime someone is murdered, the gun manufacturer will be sued.  They will be forced out of business by trial lawyers.  If you support this, I have one question: what is the difference between being able to sue gun manufacturers like is and knife makers for stabbings or Jack Daniels for drunk driving deaths (it goes on and on).  If you are for this, you are devoid of any logic in your desire for “by any means necessary” disarming.

Good gawd…this was the most boring thing I have ever seen.  These are the slowest talking, most boring people I have ever seen in my entire life…  So let’s go down the list.

Hillary Clinton:  ”Fascist.” She was handled with kid gloves, of course.  If I heard her say “First female President” one more time…  ”How would you be different than Obama?”  ”I have boobs!”  Okay…  Let’s be honest. The chick is a neo-fascist.  She wants to control everything.  She wants to spy on you.  And like all other people on the stage (excluding one), she thinks she can get the wealthy to pay for everything.  This is impossible.  We cannot do what the other “advanced” nations do.  You know why?  Because WE DEFEND THE —-ING WORLD!  If we tried, we would have to gut the military completely.  This would allow all the bad countries to do whatever they want (as they have already started doing anyway).  Be ready for a lot more blood in the future.

Bernie Sanders:  ”Socialist.”  But hey, at least he’s true to who he is.  He would be an utter disaster for this country on all fronts, but at least he’s being honest with who he is.  Give him that.  I think it’s cute how he thinks the Russian people will hold Putin accountable.  It’s Russia.  They LIKE totalitarians.  It’s part of their social makeup.  Why do people try to play with the rest of the world under the assumption that the rest of the world is like America?  It’s not.

Mike O’Malley: “Socialist.”  He strikes me as a weakling that likes to talk a big game.  He went on and on about guns.  Of course, all that he proposed wouldn’t have done anything to stop any of the shootings, but that doesn’t stop Democrats.  Yes.  The DO want your guns.  What is the point of any gun control if the end purpose isn’t total confiscation?  Leave it up to the States.  The Feds don’t have to do ANYTHING for guns.

Lincoln Chafee:  Ya know… nice to see an old school Liberal.  I didn’t like how he pinned his “bad vote” on his dead dad.  Not cool, dude, but overall, not the worst guy up there (but damn if that’s a low bar…).  Still, anti-gun.  Tax and Spend.

Jim Webb:  Holy cow!  Ya know, if he won the Presidency, I wouldn’t be happy, but I would be terrified outta my mind.  Seems like a rational dude that has thought out his positions and doesn’t feel the need to toe the party line.  I also like that he admitted you have a right to defend yourself.   He was the only one that said “all lives matter.”  That’s a new lithmus test.  If you cannot say “all lives matter,” you are weak-willed slime, and I can’t have any respect for you.

The Oregon Shooter and Gun Control

Posted by Troy on 5th October 2015 in Current Events, Political

So another mass shooting occurred.  It took Obama about two minutes to make a statement.  Of course, his statement was:  ”This has become routine.  What I’m going to say has become routine…”  Yeah, so shut the ____ up.  Don’t you get it?  We do not want what you are selling.  Of course, the usual things came up.

“We must have greater gun control!  We’re not after all guns, we just want some common sense gun control.”

Okay, well, what would you have recommended then?  Perhaps an assault rifle ban or universal background checks or a registry or something like that.  Okay, well, how would that have stopped this?  Do you think that he couldn’t have killed just as many or more people with a sawed off shotgun?  Of course, hammers kill more people in a year than assault rifles.  Most gun deaths come from handguns.  Over half of all deaths are suicides (more on that later).  Even taking those out, hoodlums with pistols are much more of a problem than “assault rifles.”

“No one should be able to get these kinds of weapons.”

Right, so lets make them illegal.  That way, no one can get them.  Just like drugs.  Face-plant.  Move on.

“We could save the lives of those who commit suicide.”

Interesting that the Democrats are all over assisted suicide, but somehow think it’s their higher purpose to ban guns to prevent suicide.  Ends justify the means?  Of course.  They don’t care if you live or die.  Hell, if you are an older, Southern White Male, they’d probably prefer you die.  Just saying.

“You are more likely to be harmed by a gun in your house than protected by it.”

Oh, that suicide statistic keeps paying dividends, doesn’t it?!  Of course, the people trying to take your guns don’t live in the ghetto or out in the woods by themselves.  Most of them live in well-to-do neighborhoods with dedicated police forces protecting them (assuming they don’t have their own security staff).  But hey, they’ll keep you safe.

Hillary made some comment about how we are willing to accept the occasional act of mass murder as the price of having the right to keep and bear arms.  I’ll tell you the truth.  YEP, I am.  I am much more afraid that our government will go ape-shit crazy and start oppressing the hell out of us than I am about a murderer.  I have a feeling, if you ask the average American which he had more fear of: the government running amok or that he may be a victim of a violent crime, I think more people would fear the first.

I am unwilling to give up the right to keep and bear arms because it the the last line defense of life and liberty.  You can quote me any crime statistic you want.  That will never change this fact.

Also, laws will not make you safer.  If it did, there would be no rape.  There would be no murder.  There would be no child molestation.  The only thing that makes you safe is morality.  Interestingly enough, the Left is all about undermining the one thing that will make our society safer while expanding the thing which makes us less safe (the government).

Long Live the Constitution!
