In a recent interview, Katy Perry discussed that her parents are Republicans, and Katy is a staunch Democrat. When she performed at Obama’s inauguration, her parents asked to come. She turned them down out of principle and thought, “How dare you?”
How dare they? Ummm, because you are their daughter and they love you and want to see you perform at such an important event?
Did she really think that they wanted to go to the inauguration out of pride? I promise you, it would not be something they would like to brag about to their friends. No, they wanted to go despite it being Obama’s inauguration.
And what will Katy’s principles be then? That she should have loyalty to a politician over her family? To a man who couldn’t care less if she lived or died over that of the two people that would gladly give their lives to see that she lives? Is that her principle? To have more loyalty to a party or to an ideology over those who love her?
When they’re gone, she is going to look back at that decision, and it will be a knife in her heart. She spurned those who loved her most out of foolish pride.
Learn this lesson well: never let pride come between you and what’s really important.
Long Live the Constitution!
