Killing Osama bin Laden is the Most Audacious Plan in 500 Years

Posted by Troy on 20th March 2012 in Current Events, Political

Joe Biden has recently said that killing Osama bin Laden was the most audacious plan in 500 years.  This is a pretty steep claim.  Let’s see, that goes back to 1512.  Too bad, so close to Columbus setting sail in 1492.  Okay, let’s throw some ideas out there:

1 – The Spanish sending 500 men to conquer Mexico, 1528.  Mexico’s a huge place.  Even playing guns vs. bows, that’s a pretty heavy load.

2 – Germany thinking they could take over the world (twice), WWI and WWII.  Germany’s pretty small.  Why would they think that they could beat the entire world?

3 – D-Day, 1944.  An amphibious assault against well fortified bunkers across 100 yards of open land.  Yeah.  That.

4 – The battle of Inchon, 1950.  MacArthur beaches his own ships, leaving them stuck on dry land until high tide, to gain an advantage.  If the Koreans respond quickly, all the ships and sailors are dead meat.

5 – The moon landing.  We can debate if it happened or not, but it’s definitely an audacious plan, isn’t it?

6 – Operation Eagle Claw, 1980.  I didn’t say all audacious plans are smart.  Most audacious plans are stupid.  This was Carter’s idea to save the hostages in Iran.  About ten things had to go off perfectly to give it a 50/50 shot of being a success.  I like to pretend Carter isn’t from Georgia sometimes.

7 – Pearl Harbor, 1941.  Isoroku Yamamoto warned Japan that, if they attacked Pearl Harbor, they would severely injure the American Pacific fleet.  The Japanese would then be free to wreck havoc for about six months, but then America would recover and would slowly push them back and would defeat Japan.  As he responded after Pearl Harbor, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”

8 – The American Revolution, 1776.  Thirteen small colonies stand against the most powerful empire the world had ever seen.

9 – The Constitution, 1787.  The first representative republic is formed.  The birth of the modern era of government for the people, by the people.

10 – Obamacare, 2010.  Give the man his credit.  He won’t let the will of the people, common sense, or the Constitution stop him from getting his way.  That’s pretty damn audacious.

There are probably hundreds more audacious plans.  I just ripped these off the top of my head based only on my knowledge of US History.  If I had extensive knowledge of the histories of other countries, I should image they have just as many audacious plans.

Peyton Manning goes to Denver

Posted by Troy on 19th March 2012 in Current Events

I usually discuss more important matters, but today I’d like to discuss Peyton Manning going to Denver.

Cleveland fans were outraged when Le Bron James went to Miami, declaring that Le Bron had no loyalty to the city.  Here’s my thesis: no player should have loyalty to a city.  The fact of the matter is, if Le Bron started shooting 10%, Cleveland fans would demand that he be traded.  Do you really think the fans would demand that management keep Le Bron around?  I think not.  In all probability, the bulk of fans would demand he be traded for a better player.

Likewise, the same holds true for Peyton Manning.  He made the Colts.  He has been their franchise quarterback for over a decade.  After he recovered from his surgery, they kicked him to the curb.

That brings us to today.  Peyton Manning goes to Denver, and now Denver is going to dump Tim Tebow like yesterday’s trash.  While I will admit that Tebow is not the greatest quarterback, he did lead his team to the playoffs and is a fan favorite.  Does the team show him any loyalty?  No!!!  Should they?  No!!!

I typically advocate virtuous behavior, but in sports, it is just business.  It’s just a job.  No player should have any loyalty to a city or to the fans.  Regardless of what they say, they will not have loyalty to the player if their fortunes are reversed or their skills begin to fade due to age or injury.

A Piece of God

Have you ever wondered why it is wrong to kill another or to be mean to another person?

Catholics, in particular, espouse a belief in the Holy Trinity which is comprised of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.  As C.S. Lewis describes it, the Father is who you pray to, the Son stands behind you and delivers the message to God, and the Holy Spirit is that part inside you which prays to the Father.

I think that this explanation does a great job of explaining why murder and cruelty is wrong.  If every person houses the Holy Ghost, that in effect means that we are all temples of God.  Killing a person is the same as desecrating a temple.  If it were not for the fact that the soul is immortal and the Holy Ghost leaves a dead body to return to God, murder would be tantamount to killing a piece of God.  Being cruel to a person is showing cruelty to God, Himself.

If you take an evolutionary approach (that we evolved from single celled organisms without a creator or a design), then there really is no reason why you should not be cruel.  In fact, such an approach would lead to the conclusion that “Only the strong survive,” and you should do whatever you need to get ahead.  No one questions the morality of a lion killing the cubs of another male lion to ensure their bloodline.  If a stepfather killed the sons of a previous marriage, that man would be viewed as evil and sick.  If we are all here by accident, what is to say that I should not just remove you from my path?  After all, with no soul, what does it matter?  Life is brief.  A man’s years number a hundred if he were so lucky.  In the history of the cosmos, this is tantamount to no time at all.  It isn’t even a blink of the eye to the Earth.  Without the consideration of the immortal soul, what would anything matter?

Disney’s adaptation of The Princess of Mars suffers the same fate as most all other sci-fi/fantasy movies: lack of patrons to go see it.  I rather enjoyed the film, and the Disney magic is still there.  When they want you to laugh, you laugh, etc.  If you are a sci-fi/fantasy geek, this movie will either be great for you or you will whine all day long and nit pick it to death.  I could also see why certain people on the Right claim that it’s a Leftist movie, but you can really spin the argument around and say that it’s an anti-Fascist (which true Fascism is closer to the American Left and the American Right currently) or anti-shadow government/Agenda 21 film.

Past all that, it was an enjoyable movie with a good mix of action and humor.  I will say that the plot is expansive.  There is a lot going on.  If you have trouble following plots, this movie is not for you.  If you are unwilling to suspend their disbelief–a necessary trait for sci-fi and fantasy fans alike.

Obama Lets Loose the Strategic Reserve

Posted by Troy on 15th March 2012 in Current Events

Apparently, no one explained to Obama that the “Strategic” in “Strategic Reserve” does not refer to his re-election strategy but to national security strategy.  The reserve was established so that America would have ready access to oil in the case that other world powers managed to cut us off from the oil of the Middle East and other outlets.  However, Obama doesn’t care about that.  All he cares about is that the price of gas is set to climb well over $5.00 a gallon due to his policies in restricting oil development here and his monetary policy of printing worthless paper as money.  We have tripled the money supply since he’s been in office.  Of course the price of gas and food are going to go up.  He is going to be disappointed to find out that releasing the reserve isn’t going to keep the price of gas low until the election.  Bear in mind that he has already released the reserves once.

Nothing Obama has done in his Presidency (other than the blatantly unconstitutional laws and maneuvers) has pissed me off worse than releasing the strategic reserves.  Doing so means that he views his Presidency as a matter of utmost importance.  Bear in mind, this is the man that claimed that the seas themselves would recede at his arrival as President.  He has no care about our military security.  This is the same man that called Seal Team 6 Cheney’s assassins and then turned around and claimed that Obama, himself, had put them together to hunt and kill bin Laden.  Everything is a focus group to this guy.  Like all dictators, he feels the need to have his way constantly and be adored at the same time.

If America is to survive, Obama must be defeated in 2012.  It is that simple.

Obama Spangled Banner

Posted by Troy on 14th March 2012 in Current Events

A Democratic Headquarters in Florida was flying an American flag with the stars removed and a portrait of Obama in their place.  Eventually, a veteran saw this flag and took pictures.  As word and outrage spread, pressure built to the point where the Democrats took down the flag.  However, they were only made to do so after it was pointed out to them that it was illegal to deface the flag as such.  In other words, they did not take it down due to any patriotic sensibilities or out of respect for the feelings of the veterans.  Instead, they only bowed to their worship of the law.

The fact of the matter is that no person deserves to appear in that blue field.  The only one who could possibly lay claim to that spot is George Washington, and he would have been appalled if someone put his portrait on the flag.  There is actually a reason for this: your love of country should be above any one person.  Once someone is elevated to such importance that they appear on the crest of the country (that is to say, the flag), then it says that that person is of the utmost important.  It states that that person is the country itself.  It is a position to which only kings and dictators aspire.  Even though Obama did not request  he appear on the flag, the fact that his followers thought to hoist him there states how they think and feel about him.  Say what you will about Bush or Ron Paul supporters.  None of them would ever think to put their politician’s faces on the flag.

Take down the flag!

A Georgia man was threatened with jail if he did not remove his flag, calling it an illegal sign.  While usually I would discuss how this is yet another attack on patriotism and national pride, trying to grind us down to where we will accept some sort of international law (such as Agenda 21), this is actually further proof of how there are so many laws on the books that none of us are safe.  If you speak out against the government, they can comb the books and charge you with something.  Have you ever been afraid that what you were doing, while harmless, could get you in trouble with the law?  I guarantee that you have been more actively afraid of trouble with the law than terrorism.  The reason for this is that our government has run amok.  The founding fathers wanted laws to be very difficult to pass.  They argued that several good law being defeated was well worth a bad law being defeated.  More laws are being made every single day.  These are laws in which we have lived just fine without for two hundred years (like the San Francisco law requiring hotels to use fitted sheets).  I believe in the rule of law, but there are limits.  We are losing our liberties by a thousand paper cuts.  It’s time we start taking it back.

Recently, TLC aired a show called “My Strange Addiction” in which a man developed a sexual relationship with a car.  They took him to a psychiatrist, and the doctor explained that what he was doing was perfectly natural.  In fact, once upon a time, only heterosexuality was considered acceptable.  After time, homosexuality became acceptable.  Now we have found that someone can be objesexual–desiring to have sex with objects.  Enough!  Let’s not legitimize this “life choice.”  It is ludicrous to tell someone that it is natural to get physically turned on by an inanimate object.

I hate to say it, but the arguement gives strength to the anti-gay marriage argument that legitimizing gay marriage lessens regular marriage.  If it is okay for someone to “love” a car, what is to prevent someone from marrying their car?  If we legitimize that marriage, then what the hell does any of it matter?

We have to start drawing some kind of lines.  “If it makes you happy” doesn’t cut it.  There are standards.  I don’t believe that such behavior should be illegal, but we should not tell people that the behavior is okay either.  Likewise, I don’t think that pot should be illegal, but I also don’t think that people should tell them it’s okay to use it.  I don’t think that going to prostitutes should be illegal, but I don’t think people should tell Johns that it’s okay.

There is a big difference between legality and morality.  Enough already.

We can mince words over so many threats to our country, but none is greater than this.  The Left has long sought to quell the ultra-patriotic.  In fact, there was a study that said you were much more likely to be a Republican if you had ever attended a 4th of July celebration, and another study stated that looking at the American flag made people tend to answer questions from a more Conservative standpoint.  The Left’s greatest goal is to break your spirit.  They want you to feel powerless and disenfranchised.  They want you to feel hopeless so you won’t fight back.  In the end, they believe that Americans must surrender their national sovereignty for the greater good (to save the world).  This is the UN/Agenda 21 angle which is coming true very fast.  I’d like to share the full lyrics to the national anthem now:

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Take comfort in these lyrics.  As long as we are brave and stand firm to our enemies, we will always be the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Super Tuesday Results

Posted by Troy on 6th March 2012 in Current Events, Political

I doubt anyone is surprised at the results today.  I feel that the masses have been compelled to vote for Romney because “He’s the most electable” without any explanation as to why he is the most electable.  I wish that people could see that you cannot carry the general election with “Elect Romney!  He’s electable!”  I haven’t met anyone who supports Romney because they like Romney.  At least the other candidates have something going for them:

Newt has raw intelligence and a great understanding of history.  He is also the best debater out there.  I don’t know of any one who hates Obama that wouldn’t pay to see a debate between Obama and Newt.  His worst problem is the fact that the media hates him and does their best to destroy him.  It’s actually a bit sickening to watch the attacks against Newt (and others such as Palin).  I don’t see how we can believe that the media is supposed to be impartial.  I go into detail that the media was infiltrated by the Left in my novel 2084, and they did that to destroy their enemies and brainwash the youth.

Santorum has a comforting blandness.  Oddly, his faith is his biggest problem.  Why is it that being religious is a problem in America?  Freedom of religion has come to mean freedom from religion.  Here again, I discuss the war on religion in 2084 because religion gives a higher law than that of the government.

Ron Paul is the most steadfastly Constitutional candidate out there.  It is a shame that we strayed from the Constitution in the 1930s.  If we hadn’t, I do not believe we would have all these problems we have now.  We would not have had the debt, the breakdown of the American family, entitlements, and the hatred of America overseas.   Unfortunately, his Constitutionality is his weakness.  By not following the Constitution for so long, we have created so many problems that going instantly back to the Constitution would be like a druggie quitting cold turkey – it might kill him.  Could you imagine if we converted to a gold standard overnight?  His biggest problem is Iran, which was also caused by our unconstitutional foreign policy.  Our only hope is to go back to the Constitution, but it must be done in the same deliberate manner as the Left used to bring us to the brink of Socialism and destruction.

Romney…has the best hair?  I really hope that gas hits over $5.00 a gallon.  He’s gonna need the help, especially when Obama declares war on Iran out of desperation to stay in office for 4 more years.

Long Live the Constitution!
